- ➤ At Messerschmidt Dairy in Eau Claire County, Felicia Erickson and her husband Dave hosted their fourth 'Hundreds on the Farm' event on June 9 to mark a changing era as small dairy farms face rising costs and fewer young locals choosing farming. UW-Extension Educator Ryan Sterry said milk production in the Chippewa Valley increased—even as the number of grade A dairy farms dropped from about 500 to 257 in the past decade. WIProud
