- ➤ The Green Bay Packers Foundation awarded $1.5M in annual grants to 395 groups statewide — including eight in Eau Claire — to support animal welfare, health, civic and environmental projects as announced today. WEAU
- ➤ Green Bay Packers Foundation announced $1.5M in annual grants this week, and several Chippewa Valley organizations are among the recipients+ the awards will support local community programs. Leader-Telegram
- ➤ UWEC Police have introduced Mocha — a 12-week-old labradoodle — as a therapy dog now supporting community engagement. She joins the department today to help provide comfort during public interactions. Leader-Telegram
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation will provide up to $200,000 in performance-based income tax credits to help fund a $6 million upgrade at the Cascades Tissue plant on Forest Street near High Bridge, which will create 36+ jobs over the next two years. WQOW

- ➤ On Dec. 17 the 9th Sustainable Eau Claire awards honored Mari Jackson for reviving community gardens, Riverflow Refillery for reducing plastic waste, and Prairie Partners for maintaining native prairies (all recognized for boosting local sustainability). WEAU

- ➤ Visit Eau Claire and the Sonnentag Center have secured the national Pylon 7on7 Flag Football Tournament, which will be held on March 14-15, 2026 at the Sonnentag Field House; over 30 teams and 1,000 athletes plus visitors are expected to gather and boost local sports exposure. WEAU
