  • Eau Claire man Perry Kuznar completed a 3,141-mile bike ride from San Diego to St. Augustine in 51 days with his wife towing a camper—he raised over $11,000 for local nonprofits by asking supporters to donate a cent per mile.  WQOW
  • Former WEAU anchor Judy Clark was honored by ex-colleagues during noon and 5 p.m. newscasts on December 1—reflecting on her 35-year career and her upcoming plans to follow the metal band Demon Destroyer on tour with her husband. Her peers praised her warm presence and lasting impact on the community.  WEAU

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour will return to Eau Claire at the Pablo Center on December 8 and December 9 at 6 p.m., marking its 14th year and showing six films on adventure and exploration. Local outdoor groups will join the event to set up booths and share conservation information.  WEAU

EDUCATION NEWS

  • UW-Eau Claire is taking part in Giving Tuesday and is urging students, staff, alumni and community members to donate, volunteer and join food drives while Dr. Sally Webb will match contributions up to $3,000 to support a campus therapy dog program run by the university police department—helping provide comfort and safety for students.  WEAU
  • UW-Eau Claire hosted Junior Achievement and local prep students Tuesday morning for a Stock Market Challenge—students practiced buying and selling stocks in a simulated market with fake companies. The event helped them understand key financial decisions for future real-life investments.  WQOW

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The DNR shared that during the nine-day gun deer hunt from Nov. 22 to Nov. 30, hunters bought 790,044 licenses and registered 182,084 deer. The numbers show a small drop from last year — with 550,611 gun licenses sold and a 2.6% fall in antlered deer while antlerless deer rose 0.9%.  WEAU

  • Eau Claire officials are coordinating with the USDA to relocate aggressive turkeys that have caused public concerns since Thanksgiving— the relocation plan aims to reduce these conflicts in local neighborhoods.  Leader-Telegram

  • On December 2nd, Eau Claire Memorial and Chippewa Falls battled in a fierce boys hockey rivalry that added a competitive chapter to their long-standing matchups—local sports fans witnessed a series of contests as Rice Lake girls basketball hosted SPASH and other boys teams competed in their scheduled games.  WEAU
