- ➤ The 18th annual Festival Foods Turkey Trot will take place on November 27 at the Eau Claire YMCA and offer a 2-mile fun run, 2-mile dog jog, and 5-mile run option. Race director Abby Seipel said the event gives local residents a chance to start Thanksgiving with healthy activity + its proceeds will support the YMCA and Boys and Girls Club. WEAU

- ➤ Hy-Vee officials in Eau Claire said the store will extend hours by 20% for the 10 days before Thanksgiving—shoppers are advised to buy early and can receive a free turkey with a ham purchase through the end of November. WEAU

- ➤ An officer in Chippewa Falls found an injured owl overnight after it was hit by a vehicle and a local wildlife rehabilitator is caring for the bird—police hope it will fully recover and return to the wild. WQOW
- ➤ The city of Altoona held a planting ceremony Thursday at Lakefront Park to continue its 'Tree City' status from the Arbor Day Foundation for six years—officials said the new trees were planted to replace those that had died. WEAU

- ➤ Phil Cook, the Hy-Vee store manager in Eau Claire, offered simple tips for cooking a Thanksgiving turkey—dry brining it, using a meat thermometer to check for 165 degrees, and letting it rest for 30 minutes to keep it moist. He also mentioned that shoppers can choose ready-made meal packs in the store if they prefer an easier option. WEAU
