- ➤ Chippewa Valley Veterans Tribute Foundation is raising funds for a new memorial statue in River Prairie Park to honor local women veterans—this project will add plaques that share service stories, including that of Kaye Olson, a Gold Star Mother. The memorial is part of a Veterans Tribute Trail that will eventually include up to 14 stops, with each target set at $150,000 to $200,000. WQOW

- ➤ The Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce has launched Chamber eBucks—powered by Yiftee and partner Visit Eau Claire—to modernize local gift options by replacing traditional Chamber Bucks. The digital tool offers a secure way for residents to reward employees and celebrate milestones with an explainer video available to guide users. WQOW

- ➤ Movie theaters in Eau Claire are set to show Wicked: For Good today as staff extend hours and hire extra help to manage the expected crowd — a boost needed during the busy season for local cinemas. WEAU
- ➤ A historic downtown house is being turned into an escape room fundraiser that will run from November 28 through January 4 to raise funds for the Chippewa Valley Museum and the maintenance of the house — players solve puzzles to stop the Grinch from stealing holiday cheer. Tickets cost $44 per player and the event is organized by Tactical Escape 101. WEAU
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Deer hunting season opens this weekend and hunters in Eau Claire will face chilly Saturday mornings in the low 20s with afternoons reaching the upper 40s + isolated showers may bring light drizzle overnight through Friday morning. Temperatures have cooled from highs in the mid 60s but are expected to run nearly 10 degrees above average through next Monday + then drop with increased rain and snow chances following Thanksgiving. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Village of Fairchild received $1.9 million in DNR grant funds to build a new water well and pumphouse so every property on its water system will have safe drinking water. Drilling and construction are set to begin in 2026—after which the nitrate-contaminated well will be abandoned. WQOW
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Chippewa Falls city council approved Rogers Behavioral Health’s plan to build a new behavioral hospital offering mental health outpatient services, 14 inpatient beds and 24 residential beds at Highway 178—Wissota Green Boulevard along the Old Abe bike trail. Rogers will seek state approval from the health services department and will start construction this spring to complete the facility by spring 2027 after receiving $10 million from the legislature. - ➤ Community members, leaders and healthcare professionals gathered on Wednesday to cut the ribbon at the new Chippewa Valley Cooperative Hospital in Chippewa Falls. The cooperative took over the former St. Joseph’s Hospital—its cancer center opened in October and a full-service interim hospital will open by mid-2026. WEAU
