COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Voting is now open for Volume One's Best of the 2025 Chippewa Valley reader poll—local residents can pick winners in media and odd news categories until midnight on December 5.  WQOW
  • Chippewa County law enforcement served tables at the annual Jason's Presents event at Chippewa Family Restaurant Tuesday, raising $15,322.53 to fund holiday gifts for children in need. The event—named after Deputy Jason Zunker who died in the line of duty in 2008—will be followed by a December party to distribute the gifts.  WQOW

CULTURE NEWS

  • Summer Jam 2026 revealed an almost full lineup today — headliners include Third Eye Blind, Styx with Bret Michaels, Blue Öyster Cult, Starship featuring Mickey Thomas, Gin Blossoms and Spin Doctors. The festival will also feature last year’s Battle of the Bands winners Six Figure Sunrise and Violenta along with this year’s entries and local favorites The Dweebs and Boogie and the Yo-Yoz.  WEAU
  • Chippewa Area History Center will continue its Legacy Lights program to honor loved ones—keeping a tradition alive for 36 years. The ceremony starts at 5:30 p.m. on November 20 and name submissions can be dropped off until December 31 at the center.  WEAU

EDUCATION NEWS

  • After months of discussion, the Eau Claire Area School District said it will no longer close or change some elementary schools, keeping Longfellow+Flynn and Roosevelt as they are. The board will look at ideas such as redrawing boundaries and 4K classes before any big moves in the 2027 to 2028 school year + it noted that enrollment has been dropping.  WEAU

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today, Eau Claire got its first measurable snow of the season with 0.7 inches recorded at the local WQOW studio—its first snow in 231 days—and dry air kept the snow off roads as flakes fell between 8 and 9 a.m. The snowfall came two weeks later than the average date of November 4.  WQOW
