  • Xcel Energy hosted its annual chili cook off on Wednesday in Eau Claire to raise money for United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley—teams made their own chili while employees without a team paid $5 for a bowl. The event raised $1200 to support local nonprofit programs.  WQOW
  • Students from Chippewa Valley Montessori School handed out handmade cards to veterans at L.E. Phillips Senior Center after Wednesday’s Veterans Day program—bringing warmth to seniors who meet regularly for support.  WQOW

  • Over 450 women gathered at the Pablo Center on Wednesday for the 22nd Annual Women’s Business Conference, which featured 15 sessions that taught topics from starting a company to paying taxes — organized by the Western Dairyland Women’s Business Center.  WEAU

  • Rodney Rave, a union engineer and former Ho-Chunk Nation legislator, announced he is running for Wisconsin's 3rd Congressional District to replace Representative Derrick Van Orden in 2026. He said he will lower costs, expand healthcare and build jobs for workers, veterans and farmers in western Wisconsin—promising common-sense leadership for real change.  WQOW

  • Chippewa Valley Health Cooperative and Chippewa County restored morgue services at Chippewa Falls Cooperative Hospital when St. Joseph’s Hospital closed in 2024—opening the facility on October 1 to handle autopsies, investigations, and funeral arrangements at no cost for local families.   • Prep athletes from western Wisconsin made their college commitments on signing day yesterday — Adaline Sheplee will play basketball for Wisconsin in Madison, Lauren McCalla will run at Washington, Reese Barfknect will play softball at St. Thomas, Lauren Shepherd will join Winona State, Jasmin Heuer will move to Michigan Tech, Iszy Sonnentag will compete at North Dakota State, Belle Kongshaug will represent NDSU, and D3 signees Aliza Kulig and Ruby Bartholemew signed with Viterbo and St. Catherines respectively.  WEAU
