COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Marine Credit Union Foundation donated $10,000 to Feed My People Food Bank amid rising food insecurity from the government shutdown & began a food drive at its branches through December. The food bank added extra pop-up pantries in Eau Claire on November 6 & will hold another on November 20 along with regular pantries on November 10, 14, and 24.  WQOW
  • Longtime WEAU anchor Judy Clark announced her upcoming retirement with her final broadcast set for Dec. 5—after 35 years at the station and 40 in local broadcasting, she will spend more time with her family.  WEAU
  • Tomorrow, the Eau Claire Global Market will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The First Congregational Church on Broadway St.—the event, now in its 8th year, features 20 vendors from 40 countries offering handcrafted wares and food items made with fair wages in mind.  WQOW
  • Community Haven House is moving to a permanent day resource center at 1 Better Way in downtown Eau Claire, set to open in December to offer showers, laundry and secure storage for the homeless—this new center is a collaboration between Hope Gospel and Western Dairyland that will also include plans for medical services. Western Dairyland’s new offices will begin operating in early 2026.  WEAU
  • The 8th Annual Brewery Battle is underway at Growler Guys as 16 local breweries compete for the honor of being Chippewa Valley’s favorite craft beer. Patrons can buy a flight of beers for $6 and vote to decide the winning brew, which will be featured on tap through 2026—final results will come after the contest ends on December 7.  WQOW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Due to an emergency water main break, water pressure in the northwest part of the Oakwood Hills zone will be reduced today from 7 a.m. to noon while crews repair the break — London Road is closed from 6:30 a.m. between Damon Street and Session Street and residents may see discolored water when the supply is restored.  News8000.com
  • Polish mayors visited Chippewa Valley to learn from local municipalities + gather ideas to improve local governance. Paweł Kownacki said that some local features reminded them of home.  Leader-Telegram

  • The Eau Claire Regis volleyball team advanced to the state championship after beating Montello 3-0 and will face Heritage Christian on Saturday—Blair-Taylor’s season ended in the state semifinal after losing to Heritage Christian in its first state tournament.  WEAU
