- ➤ Volunteers will meet at Peace Church for the 7th annual pack-a-thon by Feed My Starving Children to pack over 124,000 meals for kids who do not get enough food overseas—volunteers are also bringing nonperishable food to a local food bank. Organizers expect more than 500 people to join and help with both global aid and local hunger relief. WEAU

- ➤ Two new online textbooks for early childhood education have been released through a collaboration led by CVTC and the Wisconsin Technical College System—resources designed to support educators in updating their instructional materials. The Chippewa Herald

- ➤ The Eau Claire Police Department has issued safety reminders for Halloween events, urging trick-or-treaters to stay alert, wear reflective clothing, and travel in groups to avoid accidents—police also noted that the Downtown Trick-or-Treat event runs today from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with extra officers on duty as the holiday nears. - ➤ The WIAA football playoffs kicked off Friday night—Chippewa Falls pushed 1-seed Waunakee to overtime before falling 28—21 and Hudson advanced with a win over Sun Prairie East. In Division 2, Rice Lake squared off with Kaukauna while Altoona earned its first home playoff win over Seymour. WEAU
- ➤ Two Wisconsin natives with Eau Claire ties are playing in the World Series this year—Alex Call of the Dodgers and Daulton Varsho of the Blue Jays—both once played for the Eau Claire Express. WQOW
- ➤ On Friday, area cross country runners qualified for the state championship in Wisconsin Rapids. In the boys race, Rice Lake’s Carter Kucko won gold while Jack Schaeur of Saint Croix Central, Seth Rogge of Bloomer, Jacob Mroz of Somerset and Tristan Blancarte of Ashland earned individual spots with teams from Osceola and Ellsworth advancing—meanwhile in the girls race, Amery’s Macie Boe tied with Altoona’s Abbie Hoage for first as Kyra Dix of Prescott, Lola Olsen of Hayward and Sophie Navarro of Northwestern also qualified.
