- ➤ Peace Lutheran Church is partnering with Feed My Starving Children to host its MobilePack event on October 24 and 25, calling for 550 volunteers to help pack 124,000 meals for children suffering from malnutrition. The packed meals will be sent to countries such as Honduras, Afghanistan, Haiti, and Somalia — volunteers can sign up for two-hour sessions to receive training and assist with meal packing. WEAU
- ➤ The Eau Claire Community Foundation launched a request for proposals to find a nonprofit leader for the Grief Services Project—an initiative that will offer an annual grant of more than $170,000 for up to three years—aiming to expand grief support services with a new manager, information hub, and provider network; applications are open until November 15. - ➤ UW-Eau Claire will close its Center for Restorative Practices at the end of October as it restructures equity, diversity, and inclusion programs—eliminating the center director position. Staff from human resources, the Dean of Students office, and Multicultural Student Services will be trained in restorative practices to better support student success. WQOW
- ➤ South Middle School hosted a ribbon cutting today to celebrate a 2 1/2–year, $40 million overhaul funded by taxpayer support—upgrading classrooms, adding a new fitness center, and improving lighting and electrical systems. The Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce joined in the celebration of this major remodel. WEAU
- ➤ Chippewa River Industries celebrated facility renovations Wednesday — including an updated office and an expanded production space — to support its vocational training and life skills programs for people with disabilities and production customers. WEAU

- ➤ The League of Women Voters-Greater Chippewa Valley is offering free voter registration training to help residents guide others through Wisconsin’s registration process. The Chippewa Herald
- ➤ The Eau Claire Sustainability Advisory Committee met Wednesday to discuss a proposed cat leash ordinance that would require cats to be leashed outdoors—aiming to protect wild birds—and would raise pet licensing fees and mandate young cats be spayed or neutered. The committee did not move the proposal to the City Council and will review it further with the Humane Society and community members. News8000.com
