Community members argue that closing these neighborhood schools will create larger class sizes (a concern expressed by Roosevelt teacher Brittany Ferrell) and force hundreds of students to transfer, which may strain remaining schools. - ➤ Congressman Mark Pocan held town halls Tuesday across western Wisconsin to address the government shutdown—affecting affordable care act tax credits and dairy farmers' incomes. He criticized Congressman Derrick Van Orden for not hosting his own town hall to let people voice concerns. WEAU
- ➤ Eau Claire unveiled its proposed 2026 operating budget that is 4.5% higher than last year's and allocates $198 million to fund essential city services such as police and fire.
