The Eau Claire Community Humane Association offers a $50 discount on adoptions for dogs over 2 years old or in the shelter longer than a month during Adopt a Shelter Dog Month to help free up space as wait times reach about one month.

The shelter accepts visitors at 1—4 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 1—7 p.m. on Thursdays.

Dozens of parents, students and community members gathered outside the district office to support keeping Flynn, Roosevelt and Longfellow Elementaries open amid falling enrollment — they asked the district to look at other options instead of closing a school.

The school board has not yet set a date to discuss the possible closures.
