- ➤ TDS Fiber is building its network in Eau Claire and is now 60% complete while planning to install 1.2 million miles of cable—set to be finished by mid-2027 so residents will later enjoy some of the fastest internet speeds in the nation. Altoona and Chippewa Falls already have full coverage and the company is expanding fiber installation in Lake Hallie. WQOW

- ➤ NUTCRACKER! Magical Christmas Ballet will hold auditions on Oct. 1 in Eau Claire for local children aged 6 to 17 who will perform on Dec. 4 at the Pablo Center at the Confluence—auditions are coordinated with Infinity Dance Center under the Dance with Us program. WEAU
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State Sen. Jeff Smith and Rep. Jenna Jacobson introduced a package of bills to fight chronic wasting disease during archery deer season. The bills will fund research, create more carcass disposal sites and offer a rebate program for deer processors testing for CWD — a move they hope gains bipartisan support after stalling in past sessions. - ➤ Eau Claire is set to open a new downtown bus transfer center Monday, September 29th with the first bus leaving at 5:45 a.m. The center is funded by a $5 million federal grant and city Tax Incremental Financing and will offer a sheltered waiting area, restrooms, housing, and a parking garage — boosting downtown connectivity. - ➤ Chippewa Valley will join the Walk to End Alzheimer’s at UW-Eau Claire on Saturday, September 27 at 10 a.m. The event will feature a ceremony on advances in care and a Promise Garden where each flower shows a personal reason for fighting Alzheimer’s—hoping for a cure in the future. WEAU

- ➤ On September 24th, 10th-ranked UW-Eau Claire volleyball beat UW-La Crosse as prep football week five highlights were shared. UW-Eau Claire women’s soccer will take on Hamline and the Blugolds men’s soccer will travel to Macalester, while the Chippewa Steel face off with Amarillo—fueling extra local sports action. WEAU
