- ➤ Western Dairyland's Fresh Start program provided tools for success and housing support until AmeriCorps funding cuts halted a construction project in Strum—disappointing the youths involved. With funding restored, the organization has hired a new program coordinator who is training and recruiting participants for the 25—26 program year to complete smaller building projects with Habitat for Humanity and gain practical construction skills. - ➤ The Community Table Inc. is hosting its 7th Annual Dessert Extravaganza today from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Brewing Projekt in downtown Eau Claire—featuring hors d'oeuvres, desserts from local bakers, and a raffle drawing to fund their mission. Special guests include Kevin the Balloon Guy and Miss Wisconsin 2025, Willow Newell. WEAU
- ➤ Chippewa Valley Technical College is hosting the Give Vets a Smile event to offer free dental care, lung tests and more for veterans—registration is open for those seeking care in the near future. The Chippewa Herald
- ➤ The L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library closed its off-site materials return locations on September 19 due to a staffing shortage, with the last day for returns being September 18. The library is hiring a morning van driver & expects the return boxes to reopen in early October while on-site returns and MORE consortium libraries remain available. WQOW

- ➤ The UW-Eau Claire Foundation launched a fundraiser this week to help UWEC students and a staff member displaced by last Friday’s fire at the historic David Drummond House on State Street, where three firefighters were injured while battling the blaze — donations for the Blugold Emergency Support Fund will cover emergency needs like new laptops, deposits, and clothing. - ➤ The UW-Eau Claire Foundation and the College of Business hosted their third sports summit, where over 200 students met Blugold alumni to learn about careers in the sports industry — the event offered insights for students from varied programs. WEAU
- ➤ UW-Eau Claire will celebrate its 100th homecoming weekend from October 2-4 with a parade returning to Water Street at 10 a.m. on Saturday, and alumni along with students will gather to honor a century of tradition and new campus updates such as the Sonnentag and science building — a sign of the university’s evolving spirit. - ➤ Eau Claire County is partnering with WRR Environmental to host the third and final Clean Sweep event today at 5200 Ryder Road from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. — residents can drop off household hazardous waste for free if items are in original containers with labels. WEAU

- ➤ Eau Claire North held off Eau Claire Memorial—24-21—when a goal line stand as time expired ended the tight game on Friday in an intense crosstown rivalry. WQOW
- ➤ UW-Eau Claire upset top-ranked UW-Whitewater in a five-set match at the Sonnentag Event Center on Friday — the team set a record crowd during a dedication for coach Lisa Herb and pioneer Clare Hohmen. Bailey Leeke led with a season-high 25 kills as the Blugolds improved their WIAC record to 1-0 and will face UW-La Crosse on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. WEAU
