COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Tuesday, a local farmer who passed away in late August was honored with a procession of 50 tractors that traveled from Amy Chapel Church in Eau Claire to his horse barn in Elk Mound — the tribute celebrated his passion for farming and his work with John Deere tractors for his 120 dairy cows.  WEAU
  • The L.E. Phillips Senior Center hosted its third annual resource fair on Tuesday, drawing hundreds of attendees and over 70 vendors who offered in-home care, voting resources, and legal services—organizer Clarice Owens said the event also featured door prizes, a bake sale, and gift basket raffles.  WQOW
  • Volunteers from Royal Credit Union spent the afternoon at Feed My People Food Bank in Eau Claire packing and sorting food for local communities in celebration of Hunger Action Month. The credit union, expanding its effort for the second year, also donated $5,000 to support area food banks.  WEAU

  • On Monday night, families in Eau Claire Area School District spoke out about plans to consolidate several elementary schools—raising concerns over potential changes in student assignments.  Leader-Telegram

  • Rep. Derrick Van Orden has introduced a bill to stop federal funding for entities that employ workers who support political violence + he said the move follows social media posts after activist Charlie Kirk's shooting death and threatens to remove funding from Eau Claire officials if their posts are not corrected.  WQOW
  • Over 250 family farmers joined the National Farmers Union Fall Legislative Fly-In in Washington D.C. last week to urge Congress to pass a new farm bill that brings fairness and stability to rural communities, and 18 Wisconsin members met with USDA officials and congressional leaders to discuss low farm earnings and high consumer prices—calling for stronger support.  WEAU
  • Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez stopped in Eau Claire today during her tour of Wisconsin's 72 counties to meet locals and hear their concerns—officials said—to shape her campaign.  Leader-Telegram
