- ➤ The Habitual Yoga Space in Eau Claire is hosting Yoga for a Cause on Sunday, September 14 — the event will let participants practice yoga with 8 to 10 kittens available for adoption while free-will donations support the local animal shelter. Studio owner Ariana Foster said the class is part of a quarterly series and that a puppy yoga event is planned for winter. WEAU

- ➤ Kurschner’s Premium Ice Cream Shop in Chetek won an international ice cream competition for its peanut butter chocolate flavor — the win led to a surge in demand that quickly caused an inventory shortage. Owner Alan Kurschner said the shop also makes flavors like pistachio, lemon poppy seed, and classic vanilla while using local dairy to stand out. WEAU
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Eau Claire Area School District has been looking at ways to combine elementary schools after a year of study that noted 1,600 empty seats and an 8.4% drop in enrollment. Two plans—one to close Longfellow and change Flynn or to merge Flynn and Roosevelt—will be discussed at the board meeting on September 15 and then shared with the community before a final decision in November or December. - ➤ A group of UW-Eau Claire alum who first met in 1975 at Sutherland Hall reunited on campus today to mark 50 years of friendship—many traveled from different states to share memories and celebrate their lifelong bond. WEAU

- ➤ As fall temperatures drop, the Health Department warns that rabies risk rises in Eau Claire when bats search for indoor shelter—residents are urged to safely capture any bat contact with gloves and a container and then call the Health Department for testing. Residents should also check their homes for holes in doors or windows to keep bats out. WQOW
