- ➤ The 4th Annual Park for a Purpose will take place Saturday, September 6 at WoodWind Park as the community gathers for a car show, music, a silent auction, and disc golf tournament—funds from the event support free meals served on Monday through Thursday in Menomonie. Volunteers are needed to help with cooking, serving, and cleaning up. WEAU
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fall temperatures have arrived in the Chippewa Valley after a rainy summer and may delay the change in tree colors, DNR forester Jed Kaurich explained. Colder weather in the coming week will speed up the shift while milder conditions could keep leaves vibrant longer—peak colors are expected around the second week of October. WQOW

- ➤ Buses will soon begin operating from the new Transfer Center in downtown Eau Claire as city officials say the center is set to open by the end of September after delays from COVID, construction setbacks and rising material costs—Gray and Farwell and Main and Farwell intersections are being adjusted to provide bus access while Farwell Street remains partly limited until nearby apartments are finished.
