ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Two motorcycle accidents occurred on August 31 in Lafayette and Eagle Point—one accident at about 1:45 p.m. in Lafayette involved a vehicle turning into a parking area colliding with a motorcycle that fatally injured 25-year-old Ramsey Stevens while injuring his passenger—and the other in Eagle Point at around 3 p.m. saw Bradley Copenhaver lose control, hit a tree, and be transported by helicopter in critical condition.  WEAU

CRIME NEWS

  • UW-Eau Claire Police investigated a burglary at the former Sacred Heart Hospital building on September 1 — officers found a forced-open door and security footage captured a young male with an obscured face entering and leaving in a white vehicle, possibly a 2018-2025 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, with two others.  WQOW
  • On Wednesday, Dakota Bilderback, 29, was charged with first-degree intentional homicide for shooting Michael Lee, 37, at a home on Sunset Drive — she told police she shot him to protect her children, cited mental health struggles and methamphetamine use, and is held on a $250,000 cash bond with no court date set.  WQOW
  • John Soung, 48, was sentenced to 5 years in prison and 5 years under supervised release for meth possession after police recovered 6 pounds of meth and a handgun from a storage rental unit in Eau Claire—Judge William Conley described the case as an escalation in his meth dealing history.  News8000.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Nineteen school districts across Wisconsin have received nearly $1 million in Wisconsin Fast Forward Grants from the Department of Workforce Development—funds that will upgrade technical training equipment for career education. Grants will support schools like Augusta, Durand-Arkansaw and Elk Mound by funding tools such as robotic welding systems and 3D printers—to help students build job-ready skills.  WQOW
