- ➤ Student Transit buses are parked outside Culver’s on Brackett Ave — Golf Road — and Folsom St. in Eau Claire until Aug. 17 to collect unused school supplies in preparation for the 2025-2026 school year. Donating three or more items earns a free single scoop of custard. WQOW
- ➤ Camp Manitou in New Auburn broke ground on its new $6 million dining hall on Thursday to provide more space for over 1,800 summer campers with added features such as a stage, storm shelter, and extra bathrooms—community support was key and the hall will be ready by next summer. WEAU
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Zachary Gilman from Altoona entered not guilty pleas to drug and theft charges and his mother faces charges as well — online court records show a status conference will be held on Oct. 16th — which will set the next court dates. WEAU
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced that Highway 93 in Eau Claire County finished construction early and will reopen Monday, Aug. 11. Some lanes will remain closed for final paving along the stretch from Cedar Road to the Trempealeau County line—drivers should plan for minor delays. WQOW

- ➤ At Carson Park on Thursday evening, starting pitcher Cohen Gomez pitched a complete game shutout and led the Express to a 2-0 win over the Honkers, marking the 700- win milestone for field manager Dale Varsho and pitching coach Vic Cable. - ➤ The Chippewa Area Ice Arena is making major changes as the Chippewa Youth Hockey Association runs its 'Keeping it Cool' Campaign to raise funds for a new ice chiller — the campaign has raised over half of the $1.6 million needed and will complete upgrades within three years with strong community support.
