- ➤ Tuesday night, the Eau Claire Police Department hosted National Night Out at Carson Park as hundreds of families enjoyed free food, games, and activities while local first responders and other agencies took part— the event featured a tug-of-war contest with the police chief against the fire chief and ended with a bike raffle for children. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ The UW-Eau Claire Foundation and Blugold Real Estate Foundation received the Paragon Award for their work on The Sonnentag and related projects that created jobs and boosted the community’s economy. Curt Krizan said he was honored to accept the award—he thanked community partners and business leaders for their support. WEAU
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Eau Claire is turning 93 acres, including dead grass along Highway 53, into pollinator-friendly land after herbicide spraying in June and July+ officials said contractors will till the areas this week. Contractors will spray again roughly three weeks later and plant new seeds in the third week of September+ the project remains on schedule. WQOW

- ➤ The Wisconsin Bankers Association warned Eau Claire customers that bank spoofing scams—calls that use fake bank numbers to ask for personal details—are on the rise and advised anyone who receives such a call to hang up and call their bank using the official number. WQOW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ According to the Department of Corrections, over 63,000 people were on probation or parole in 2024 and a new law, Assembly Bill 85, could send them back to prison for even minor violations—lawmakers and advocates will discuss the bill at a panel on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. WEAU
- ➤ Both on and off ramps headed north on US 53 at the North Crossing will close overnight Friday and remain closed into Saturday afternoon for pavement repairs near the US 53/WIS 312 interchange—WisDOT stated closures begin at 8:00 p.m. Friday with detours via the US 53/Melby Street interchange, Melby Street, Business 53 and WIS 312 and are weather dependent. - ➤ Eau Claire County’s Human Services Department is proposing a $53,631,250 budget for 2026—amid financial uncertainties caused by federal and state decisions that may impact local funding. Leader-Telegram
