  • Workers from Eau Claire’s utility division and community service officers rescued five ducklings from a storm drain on Monday morning, according to police.  WEAU
  • WESTconsin Credit Union is hosting the 'School’s Out Summer Food Drive' from July 7 to July 19 — donations will be used to fill shelves at 14 community partner sites.  WEAU

  • Eau Claire Fire and Rescue reported no one was hurt when a garage on the 2800 block of Conrad Street fully caught fire on July 4th at 11 p.m.—they have not determined the cause or damage estimates.  WIProud

  • Not Justa Coffee Shop in Banbury Place employs adults with disabilities through the L.E. Phillips Career Development Center by serving coffee, food, and art to build job skills and community bonds. The shop is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.—its team says making coffee brings confidence and joy.  WQOW

CRIME NEWS

  • Eau Claire police arrested three women after searching a home on the 600 block of North Barstow following months of surveillance that raised drug trafficking suspicions—Shannon Cockerham, who was pulled over on Saturday and had 2 grams of cocaine found during a strip search, Soleo Allen, arrested on drug charges, and Gabrielle Vondrasek, charged with obstructing an officer—while bonds were set at $7,500 for Cockerham and $4,000 for Allen and the Department of Human Services was notified regarding two children.  WQOW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Literacy Chippewa Valley celebrated its ribbon cutting Monday at the West Riverside building to mark its move into a larger space for English classes — the nonprofit now offers three classrooms and a childcare room to support learners facing literacy challenges.  WQOW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Eau Claire announced construction on Keystone Crossing will begin July 14 and include replacing concrete ramps, repairing curbs, and removing bituminous surfaces—traffic will be redirected via detour routes as nearby businesses remain accessible, with the project expected to finish August 20.  WEAU
  • Less than a week after the 2025-27 state budget was adopted, Gov. Tony Evers visited Eau Claire as part of his statewide tour — his visit marks one of several stops to discuss the new budget.  Leader-Telegram

SPORTS NEWS

  • An ancient Nordic game called Kubb is gaining popularity in Eau Claire as local enthusiasts move from casual backyard play to competitive tournaments—24 teams recently competed in a pre-championship event. Organizers say the U.S. National Championship, scheduled for July 11–13, will feature 144 teams from across the country and beyond.  News8000.com
