- ➤ Workers in Altoona are finishing 'The Yard,' a container park set to open on July 26th along Division Street with shops, restaurants, a taproom, and a music stage. - ➤ Holmen police confirmed a man was found dead at 815 Granum Street on June 29 and that they charged 38-year-old Jacob Klaver from Winona with 1st degree intentional homicide after taking him into custody on July 2—he now awaits extradition to Wisconsin. WEAU

- ➤ Chippewa Falls man Art Hebert painted a large mural on his lawn overlooking Lake Wissota to honor former Brewers announcer Bob Uecker and his famous homerun call. He worked for eight hours with help from family—using non-toxic paint that will wash away in about two weeks. WQOW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Tony Evers signed the 2025-27 state budget at 1:30 a.m. Thursday, and it gives nearly $1.5 billion in tax cuts plus more money for special education, roads, and health services. Some local leaders praised the help for working families—while one representative from Eau Claire warned it does not give enough to public schools. WQOW

- ➤ Wisconsin’s smoke-free indoor air law will celebrate its 15th anniversary tomorrow as the Department of Health Services highlights its role in protecting residents from harmful secondhand smoke—helping to lower smoking rates among adults and high school students.
