- ➤ A crash on U.S. Highway 53 closed all southbound lanes at River Prairie Drive in Eau Claire County—Altoona police asked drivers to avoid the area. WEAU
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Zorn Arena— a historic venue on the UW-Eau Claire campus— is scheduled for demolition in the coming weeks to make room for new green spaces and pedestrian walkways. Demolition for Kjer Theatre begins June 23 and the full project will be completed by September. WQOW
- ➤ Demolition on UW-Eau Claire’s lower campus will begin Monday with crews starting on Kjer Theatre next week before dismantling Brewer Hall and Zorn Arena—about 84,000 square feet will be cleared for new green space and walkways—cleanup and seeding are scheduled for September. WEAU

- ➤ Township Fire Department received 2,352 cans of emergency drinking water from Anheuser-Busch and Park Ridge Dist.—the donation helps firefighters stay hydrated during wildfire response efforts. WEAU
- ➤ The city of Eau Claire held two Century Code update pre-adoption open houses Tuesday — a move to keep the public informed about expected zoning code changes. Leader-Telegram
- ➤ Eau Claire Transit Department has installed four new overhang shelters — one at stops near the Goodwill store on Gateway Drive, L.E. Phillips Senior Center, Grace Barstow Apartments and the County Government Center — to protect bus riders from rain, heat and bad weather. The shelters feature benches and ADA accessible pads, and the department plans to add more in the future. WQOW
