- ➤ Eau Claire’s Fairfax Pool opened for the summer on Friday with fresh paint on the main and diving pools, added shade features, and a newly resurfaced water slide. City crews are also finishing a third pavilion for rent, and the pool is open from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. until August 22. WQOW
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ An Eau Claire man, 40-year-old Garrett Waldinger, is charged with buying a gun for felon Leo Lacy (involved in a recent police manhunt) and with obstructing an officer; surveillance video showed them together at Scheels two days before the incident and Waldinger later said the gun was reported stolen from his car. - ➤ The Eau Claire Area School District announced that its summer food program will begin on June 9 (free meals are provided for children 18 or under and for students with physical and cognitive disabilities up to age 21) and the schedule is available from the district for families. WEAU
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Construction starts on a busy stretch of I-94 in western Wisconsin after Gov. Tony Evers approved a $300,000 project to seal over 100 bridge decks and columns across counties including Eau Claire. Work will begin Sunday evenings and finish in late July with lane closures but without a full shutdown of the interstate. WQOW
