- ➤ The Pablo Foundation has donated $422,000 to the New Day Resource Center so it can buy and fix up a building on Gibson Street for a day shelter operated by Hope Gospel Mission. Western Dairyland said they will close on the building by June 17, begin renovations in August, and plan to open the shelter in January—while they continue to raise funds for the project. WQOW

- ➤ Kenneth Van Meter, a 42-year-old man from Mondovi, pleaded guilty in March to causing a fatal crash while driving intoxicated and was sentenced to 15 years in jail—10 years of extended supervision after a 2023 crash that killed Tammy Jarecki in Eau Claire. WIProud
