  • The Chippewa Valley Veterans Tribute Foundation hosted a Memorial Day ceremony and dedication at River Prairie Park to honor veterans who gave their lives and those still in service. The event featured legacy stones, benches + a welcome home statue built with support from American Phoenix Incorporated.  WIProud
  • Hundreds of people will join the ALS Association's Walk to Defeat ALS in Chippewa Falls on Saturday, May 31 at Irvine Park to raise funds for research. Participants may register before the event or on Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. with the walk beginning at 10 a.m. (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).  WQOW
  • Severe winds knocked a center stone from its post at Augusta Veterans Park and officials replaced it—costing several thousand dollars—to honor past, present and future veterans. American Legion Post 291 commander Eric Ries said the rededicated stone reminds the community of the sacrifices made for freedom.  WIProud

  • Downtown businesses in Eau Claire face challenges as construction closes North Barstow Street until June 20, reducing parking and access for customers. Owners like Beth Schwartz are adjusting store hours to serve their community better — while the city offers free parking in the North Barstow Parking Ramp— and they hope support remains strong during the work.  WEAU

  • Last night, May 27, Tuesday Night Blues kicked off at Owen Park with Kings and Associates, an Australian electric blues band, performing at 6:30 p.m.—free concerts will run every Tuesday through August with Brickhouse Pub and Grub as a backup venue if weather calls for it.  WEAU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Eau Claire City Council voted to support a film and television production incentive program and to reestablish a Wisconsin Film Office to encourage local film crews and businesses. The measure, part of Governor Tony Evers’ budget proposal, promises low-risk, high-reward benefits—officials expect it will boost local production and storytelling—if the legislation passes.  WEAU
  • Eau Claire County has begun its search for a new county administrator. The county will review applications and plan interviews in the coming weeks to fill the position.  Leader-Telegram
