- ➤ A local non-profit invites cyclists to join the 39th Chippewa Valley Century Ride on May 24 to celebrate biking and raise funds for hunger task force agencies, local parks, youth organizations, and special needs—cyclists can choose from 35, 50, 75, or 100-mile routes and will receive refreshments during the ride plus a meal afterward. - ➤ In 2024, the Eau Claire Police Department answered over 3,000 calls involving people experiencing homelessness. Officers worked with local agencies — including the Department of Human Services, Western Dairyland and Sojourner House — to treat everyone with respect and keep the community safe. WIProud
- ➤ In Chippewa Falls, American Legion Post 77 honored three Civil War veterans by installing new headstones at Forest Hill Cemetery—regional manager Chris Maurina and supporters helped locate family records to claim the stones under a 19th century law. - ➤ The Village of Boyd is returning its annual Ringelspiel Days festival at Lotz Park on May 24, 25 and 26 with a parade, carnival rides, sports tournaments and a Bean Bag tournament for families. - ➤ In Fairchild, pleas were entered after a shooting on September 29th, 2024—27-year-old Mark Dickinsen pleaded no contest to felony intimidation, firearm possession while intoxicated and OWI, receiving 60 days in jail for one count and will be sentenced for the remaining counts on July 17 at 1:30 p.m.—while 51-year-old Aaron Walker pleaded not guilty with a status conference scheduled for August 25 at 10:30 a.m. WEAU

- ➤ City officials are launching a pollinator land conversion using federal funds from the American Rescue Plan to transform 93 acres of mowed land—by spraying herbicide to remove existing grasses and weeds so native plants and winter wheat can be planted—to support bees and butterflies, with work beginning around May 28 and pollinator activity expected in one to three years. - ➤ Dunn County will launch a new rural door-stop bus service starting the first week of June that runs every Tuesday by rotating service among four county regions and carrying riders into Menomonie for appointments and errands.
