  • A curious bear was seen on camera near L.E. Phillips Library today as a Facebook video shows it approaching the building & then retreating into nearby trees. Eau Claire Police advise residents to keep a safe distance from the animal.  WQOW
  • Feed My People received 40,000 lbs of macaroni and cheese donated by Land O'Lakes to support local food efforts today. Executive Director Padraig Gallagher said the donation will help provide meals for families in need.  Leader-Telegram

CULTURE NEWS

  • John Leinenkugel recalled his family’s 160-year legacy at the Chippewa Falls brewery (closed January 2025) that now offers tours and brewing at the Leinie Lodge. He hopes local support will help extend the tradition for future generations.  WEAU
  • The Eaux Claires Festival returns after an eight-year break on July 24-25 at Carson Park, featuring diverse music acts and art displays planned at local museums. Justin Vernon hosted a press conference to share his vision for the community event and announce surprise additions for festival-goers.  WQOW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • CVTC held its spring commencement at the Sonnentag Center on Thursday night, awarding more than 1,000 degrees. Ten graduates from the new aesthetician program became pioneers as they set out to launch their careers.  WEAU

  • Mayo Clinic Health System announced plans to expand its Eau Claire campus, with construction set to begin in spring 2027.  Leader-Telegram
