- ➤ On Monday, Chippewa Manor donated $2,000 to the Paws for a Cause campaign that funds service dogs for local veterans and will help cover the $25,000 cost to breed, train and place a canine companion, while American Legion Post 77 & over 15 local groups join the effort. WEAU
- ➤ Carson Park’s historic grandstands will receive preservation updates—repairs and new waterproof coatings start mid-August—after the Landmarks Commission approved a Certificate of Appropriateness Monday night. The project addresses chronic water intrusion and awaits state review for additional phases. WEAU
- ➤ The Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley named Travis Ida as its new CEO on Monday, May 18 in Eau Claire, while Tasha Weiss was promoted to COO to lead daily operations + build community partnerships. Their leadership changes aim to support sustained program growth. WEAU

- ➤ Organizers installed around 40 new sculptures in Eau Claire over the past week for the upcoming 2026-27 Sculpture Tour — adding vibrant artistic flair to local spaces. Leader-Telegram
- ➤ In 1884 nearly all bridges on the Chippewa River were swept away by floods — a crisis that led locals to raise roads and build dams for water control. Jarrod Showalter from the Chippewa Area History Center said these changes shaped how the valley manages water today. WQOW
