  • Michelle Super, a registered nurse at Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital, won a voucher for a cruise from Simple Modern—she was unknowingly entered by a friend. She said she will hold off traveling with friends until the colder, darker winter months.  WEAU
  • Julie Wilson of the local YMCA was honored by Governor Tony Evers as AmeriCorp Member of the Year for creating —Sober Strong—, a program that uses group fitness, peer support, coaching and mentorship to help women in recovery. She launched the initiative two years ago and it has since served over 100 local women.  WQOW

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • One person was taken to the hospital after a car plowed into a house near Eau Claire’s west side on West Cameron Street in Union — the driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries, received traffic citations, and those inside the house were unharmed.  WIProud

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Auto body shops in Eau Claire handled a high volume of calls after Thursday afternoon’s severe weather caused hail damage that led many people to schedule estimates — not repairs. Trubilt Collision Center said hail damage ranged from cracked windshields to dents and that repair jobs could cost thousands as customers waited for help.  WEAU

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Heyde Center in Chippewa Falls is hosting an exhibit with 43 artists for Mental Health Awareness Month—showing how art can boost mental and physical well-being. The display hopes to break stigmas and start conversations about mental health until June 18.  WEAU

  • Freshman Norah Kling led the Eau Claire Memorial girls soccer team with 16 goals and 8 assists in 14 games—helping her team take the conference lead while she also played in the Olympic Development Program. Memorial now sets its sights on earning a state tournament berth as the playoffs approach.  WEAU
