- ➤ Hy-Vee is offering free breakfast for veterans & active military members on Wednesday, May 20 from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with free coffee available every Wednesday in May as part of its celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. WEAU
- ➤ Community members are invited to join a procession to honor fallen deputy Kaitie Leising on Wednesday at around 11:50 a.m. The route will travel through Glenwood City with emergency vehicles from across the region participating. WEAU
- ➤ Feed My People Food Bank is cutting its Eau Claire pop-up pantries from weekly to twice a month starting in June to support partner organizations amid record food demand — Executive Director Padraig Gallagher said the change follows a turbulent 2025 and will end in 2027. WQOW
- ➤ The Eau Claire Community Humane Association will receive about a dozen rescued beagles next Wednesday as part of an effort to rehome 1,500 dogs from Ridglan Farms, and the shelter seeks foster homes and donations to help the pups adjust (they are not yet ready for adoption). WQOW

- ➤ Maestro Nobuyoshi Yasuda will conduct his final concert on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Pablo Center’s RCU Theatre, celebrating 33 years with the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra (CVSO) as he prepares to retire and pass the baton to a new music director. WEAU
- ➤ Students in the Dance Appreciation Class held flash mobs at UW-Eau Claire Tuesday — part of a regular event that boosts student creativity. Lecturer Stephen K. Stone said the flash mobs enhance campus life. WEAU

- ➤ Students at Chippewa Valley Technical College are gaining hands-on fire and EMS training using lifesaving extrication tools loaned by Jefferson Fire and Safety today. The tools (costing $45,000-$50,000) are on loan for one year before CVTC may purchase them. WEAU
- ➤ At a Monday night meeting, the school board began cutting staff to address a reported $10.5M budget deficit. Board President Farrar said the cuts, driven by funding issues, will not change subjects or class sizes. WQOW
