CULTURE NEWS

  • The L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library is inviting local artists, makers, technicians, designers and hobbyists to apply for its annual Makers in Residence program with an application deadline of May 8th and a four-week residency set from June 2nd to June 28th. Chosen makers will teach three two-hour workshops per week and receive a $750 stipend with up to $500 for supplies — an effort to expand creative access in the community.  WEAU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Eau Claire’s Community Services Director Lane Berg said glued campaign posters from Judge Susan Crawford’s election still cover lamp posts near downtown, West Grand Avenue and Water Street, causing paint damage and extra work. Crews will soak the posters in solvent on Monday—then pressure wash them—as officials track the hours spent on removal.  WQOW

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Eau Claire City-County Health Department asked for help finding a German Shepherd that bit a girl on April 27 at 4:40 p.m. near Roadside Ice Cream and Diner on 1160 Menomonie Street — officials said finding the dog was crucial to determine its rabies risk and prevent further bites, and anyone with information was urged to call the Communications Center.  WEAU

  • Dozens of Chippewa Valley athletes signed letters of intent on National Signing Day as signings at Eau Claire Memorial, Old Abes and Eau Claire North marked busy recruiting efforts—some athletes stayed local while others signed with colleges far away. The commitments include programs at UW-Oshkosh, UW-Stevens Point, UW-La Crosse and North Iowa Area Community College—highlighting a busy day for local sports talent.  WEAU
