- ➤ Beacon House is a shelter on the east side that offers families more than a bed by providing case management, shared meals, and a shopping room for donated items—helping them reset and access job and housing resources. WEAU
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Two local filmmakers release Kings of Kubb, a documentary exploring Eau Claire's unique history and spirit at the U.S. National Kubb Championships. The film premieres Apr. 30 at the Pablo Center and will include additional screenings regionally. WQOW
- ➤ Carson Park finds its roots in Eau Claire's history as a 134-acre peninsula that evolved from Shaw's Island and a lumber log pond into a park donated by William Carson's family. The city built bridges in 1916 and 1933 to link the park with the rest of town. WQOW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City officials are seeking public feedback on a plan to add ads to new benches as a measure to cut a $2.2M deficit. A survey shows divided opinions (40% in favor, 40% opposed) and the proposal will be reviewed by the Transit Commission and City Council. WQOW
- ➤ Gov. Evers signed Gail’s Law to require insurers to cover supplemental breast screenings for high-risk women, honoring Gail Zeamer after her tragic loss + the law is now in effect for many plans while Wisconsin Act 102 will take effect on July 1 for Medicaid members after CMS review. WEAU

- ➤ Altoona PD is promoting National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day Saturday to help community members safely dispose of unused prescriptions at designated drop-off sites. Leader-Telegram

- ➤ On Monday, the Landmarks Commission voted to permit demolition of the historic Drummond House in Eau Claire. Severely damaged by a September lightning-struck fire, the building will be demolished by EDJ Rentals this summer. WQOW
