COMMUNITY NEWS

  • This week, dispatchers at Eau Claire Communications Center were honored during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. A (Tree of Life) display outside the center marks their role in managing over 200,000 calls annually.  WEAU
  • On Wednesday night, about 20 local high school seniors bound for military service received a sendoff at Wild Ridge Golf Course during the 8th annual High School to Heroes banquet. The event featured performances by the Eau Claire Male Chorus and remarks from founders (Scott and Lesa Cramer).  WEAU
  • County Parks and Forest unveiled two camper cabins at Coon Fork Campground near Augusta—featuring wi-fi, TV, a dining area, and one accessible entrance. Reservations open online Saturday, Apr. 18 at 12 p.m. for the summer season from May 1 to Sept. 15 starting at $110 weeknights and $130 weekends.  WQOW

  • Wingstop is set to open Monday, Apr. 20 in the Clairemont Avenue building in front of the former Shopko plaza (located alongside Five Guys) and will serve from 10:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily.  WQOW

  • Eau Claire is hosting its 59th annual jazz festival—celebrating a deep tradition of jazz music in town. Local venues will feature performances that invite residents to enjoy live music.  Leader-Telegram

  • Edwin Martini, a candidate for UW-Eau Claire chancellor, met with Blugolds and community members at the Davies Center Wednesday night and stressed the need for clear AI rules from his UW-Oshkosh tenure.   • Athletes from Menomonie, Eau Claire Memorial and Regis signed letters of intent to join college sports yesterday across Chippewa Valley, while UW-Eau Claire baseball played UW-Stout in a doubleheader + boosting local sports hopes for the future.  WEAU
