CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Chippewa Valley Concert Band will perform an original music piece inspired by 11-year-old Ray's imaginative story on Sunday at 2 p.m. at DeLong Middle School. The concert is a partnership with the Sing Me a Story Foundation (a community project transforming youth tales into art). WEAU
- ➤ Several new films are screening this weekend at local theaters, including the rom-com You, Me & Tuscany starring Halle Bailey and two other titles at Micon, Chippewa Falls & Oakwood Mall. Limited showings of Legends of the Lost Ark add an archaeology special event to the lineup. WEAU
- ➤ Three local museums, including the Chippewa Valley Museum, will host exhibits that share the region's role in the nation's 250th history this summer. The Chippewa Valley Museum exhibit opens May 15 — other exhibits start on different dates in May. WQOW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Altoona School District is hosting a community engagement event today (7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the high school gymnasium) that invites local residents to discuss school progress and future plans. WEAU
- ➤ The L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library is hosting a children’s book drive until April 20 to support three early literacy programs that distribute free books in English, Spanish + Hmong. You can donate online, by buying from a wish list, or by dropping off a new book at the library. WEAU
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On Friday, April 10, Augusta won a walk-off in prep softball while Chippewa Falls played Marshfield and Eau Claire North hosted Superior in a double header in the Chippewa Valley. The contests marked an exciting start to spring sports season + local pride soared. WEAU
