- ➤ Students from UW-Eau Claire Pinky Swear Pack and the pickleball club will host a tournament on Sunday, April 13 at the McPhee Center to raise money for kids with cancer—teams pay $10 and players $5, and sign-ups are due by Saturday, April 12. WEAU

- ➤ 52-year-old Jay Conklin was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison with 5 years extended supervision—consecutive to his current sentence—for attempting to hire fellow inmates to kill a prosecutor after being convicted of solicitation of first-degree intentional homicide. WIProud

- ➤ At Flynn Elementary School in Eau Claire, students work with Earthbound Environmental Solutions on a compost fundraiser that will run through April 22, with each $25 bag aiming to help reach a $1,200 goal for the school. - ➤ At Chippewa Valley Technical College, 20 culinary management students competed over several weeks to create the perfect Wisconsin sandwich using horseradish from Silver Spring Foods. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Motorists on northbound US 53 will face lane closures between River Prairie Drive and WIS 312 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, April 21—this inspection will also close the northbound on-ramp at River Prairie Drive—while southbound drivers will see lane closures from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, April 23 during a bridge check over the Eau Claire River. Motorists are urged to plan their trips as delays are expected and the work depends on the weather. WEAU
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Eau Claire City-County Health Department expects a loss of around $85,000 in federal funding — it was notified on March 27th that the federal decision to cancel the grants was made on March 24th. The department, which relies on federal funds, is working with the state to determine how the cuts will affect its services. WQOW
- ➤ Authentic Mental Health moved to Eau Claire's northside and now operates in the old Associated Bank building off Eddy Lane and Business 53, offering outpatient counseling for anxiety, depression — PTSD and grief. The clinic added four offices to meet growing community needs. WQOW
