- ➤ Animal lovers will join the Eau Claire Community Humane Association for its first Slumber Pawty on Saturday, April 5th to raise money for animal care costs. A group of 12 participants will stay 24 hours at the shelter while community members meet adoptable animals from 1 to 4 p.m.—pledges aim to help meet a $30,000 goal. WEAU

- ➤ Police confirmed that on Saturday morning at about 7:15 on County Highway Y in Dunn County, Eau Claire runner Ann Seidl, 54, was fatally struck by a car and 17-year-old Menomonie resident Addison Bowell was arrested on charges of hit and run causing death, 1st offense OWI, and homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle—Bowell is scheduled for a bond hearing Monday at 1:15.
