BUSINESS NEWS

CULTURE NEWS

  • Volume One will premiere its documentary detailing 50 years of Hmong resettlement in Eau Claire at the Pablo Center on Thursday, April 11. The 40-minute film (made with local partners) is free but requires an RSVP due to limited space.  WQOW
  • Downtown Eau Claire's river confluence (where the Chippewa and Eau Claire Rivers meet) shows a long local history from indigenous use and 1840s logging to 1884 floods and later revival. Revived with Phoenix Park in 2005, it now offers a scenic gathering spot for the community.  WQOW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library is hosting Spring Break Week with activities like trivia, arts and crafts, movies + ping pong, book bedazzling, a pop-up planetarium, and an escape room. The free event runs from March 30 through April 4 to offer local kids a fun, engaging break from school.  WEAU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Judge Chris Taylor, a nominee for the Wisconsin Supreme Court on the spring ballot, held a campaign stop at UW-Eau Claire Monday night and spoke with students + supporters about her strong record and judicial values.  WQOW
  • Eau Claire City Council voted on March 30 to partner with United Soccer Club to manage the Soccer Park pending state Innovation Funding approval—United Soccer Club will take over operations on July 1 to help close a $150,000 maintenance shortfall. The five-year deal may end early if both sides decide it is not beneficial.  WEAU
  • The DNR announces a call for volunteer safety education instructors for hunter/bow, ATV/UTV, boat and snowmobile courses today. Applicants must be over 18, have relevant experience, complete training and pass a background check (visit the DNR website for details).  WEAU
