A firefighter sustained a minor injury while battling a kitchen fire on Trimble Street just before 5 p.m. Tuesday as crews rescued one dog and two cats from a home that had already been evacuated.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Eau Claire Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 2232 Trimble St+all occupants had evacuated, with one firefighter injured and one dog+two cats rescued; damage is estimated at $75,000 and investigators suspect a cooking fire.

Tuesday afternoon, the City Council passed a resolution to update the tree ordinance that has not changed since 1970.

Early voting for the Wisconsin Supreme Court race saw more than 345,000 ballots returned by Tuesday—48% above similar early counts two years ago.
