- ➤ Two Men and a Truck is holding the Movers for Moms campaign during April — partnering with local businesses and Bolton Refuge House — to collect canned food, personal items, and basic home supplies from drop-off points in Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, Altoona, and Lake Hallie for moms in need. - ➤ Beaver Creek Reserve now offers a new all-terrain wheelchair that has caterpillar tracks for navigating sand, mud, and ice & other surfaces. It is free to use with a fifty-dollar deposit that is returned when the chair is in good condition and was purchased with a grant from the Aging and Disability Resource Center. WQOW

- ➤ UW-Eau Claire named alumna Dr. Kara Metzger as the new director of athletic bands today—she is a 2016 Blugold graduate and a Waukesha native set to help the marching band grow. - ➤ Eau Claire City Council is considering a change to the city’s tree ordinance that has not been updated since the 1970s—its resolution would create a board to develop new tree rules after complaints about tree removal during construction. Council will vote on the resolution today. WEAU
- ➤ Kathryn Schauf, the Eau Claire County Administrator, announced she will retire on July 10 — her last day is July 9 — after years of service to the county and she thanked the board for their support. WEAU
- ➤ Eau Claire City Council will vote today on a re-zoning ordinance for the annexed Evergreen Terrace plot that has stirred controversy among town of Washington residents—locals were surprised by the unexpected plan. If approved, construction will soon begin. WIProud
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ County Health Rankings and Roadmaps released data that showed Eau Claire County was slightly above the state average but lagged in mental health and substance misuse, with 35% of adults feeling lonely and 24% reporting heavy drinking. Director Lieske Giese and UW-Eau Claire’s Dr. Briana Rockler said the study highlights a need for more affordable housing and improved mental health services to boost community well-being. WEAU
- ➤ UW-Health released a statewide report showing Eau Claire County ranks above average in flu vaccinations, mammogram screenings and access to primary care, although the data highlighted the need for improved mental health support and a reduction in excessive drinking.
