COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Judy Clark, known for her 35-year career at WEAU, is being honored as a 2024 WBA Local Broadcast Legend for her strong community service—she will be recognized on June 19 at the 2025 WBA Summer Conference. WEAU
- ➤ On Thursday morning, the American Red Cross held its Annual Heroes Breakfast and honored Chippewa Valley members including Tom Larson who earned the Hero of a Lifetime Award for teaching CPR and donating blood over many years—highlighting a strong community commitment to saving lives. WEAU
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Jesse Adams, a convicted sex offender, will be released on March 18, 2025 and live under DOC supervision in Eau Claire—his rules forbid unsupervised contact with minors, any contact with his victim, and drug use as he remains on the sex offender registry for life. WQOW
- ➤ Eau Claire police say 42-year-old Jesse Adams, convicted of repeated sexual assault of a child and possession of child pornography, is set to be released from prison on March 18, 2025—he will live in a Wisconsin Department of Corrections monitored home on Randall Street. WEAU
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Eau Claire voters can cast in-person absentee ballots from March 18 until March 28 for the April 1 election — they must enter the elections office behind city hall with curbside available for voters with physical disabilities. Voters must also show ID and proof of address if registering in person, and mail ballots need to be received by election day. WQOW
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Aspirus Health sent a letter to Chippewa Valley residents promising a new health care facility in Chippewa Falls in 18 months or sooner after St. Joseph Hospital closed— the facility will provide primary care, emergency services, and inpatient care to meet local needs. WQOW
- ➤ The Chippewa Valley Health Cooperative signed a purchase agreement with Hospital Sisters Health System for the St. Joseph’s Hospital building. The group has 90 days to finish its review and may reopen the hospital as early as winter 2025—if the costs work out. WEAU

- ➤ Boys basketball games moved to the sectional semifinals Thursday night in Western Wisconsin. Amery upset Northwestern in Division 3 and Turtle Lake beat Spring Valley with a clutch shot from Brandon Wagner—while Cochrane-Fountain City won over Columbus Catholic to reach the finals. WEAU
