  • Noah Coughlan passed through Eau Claire on March 6 as part of his Run For America journey, where on day 140 he promoted American unity (he asked what the American flag means to everyday citizens).  WEAU

  • Twin Bluffs Bar owner David Brommerich is transforming the former home of The Bar in Goodview into The Goodview Bar & Grill — a new restaurant that will open soon.  The Chippewa Herald

CULTURE NEWS

  • Wisconsin cheesemakers celebrated wins at the World Championship Cheese Contest after judges rated international entry Beemster Royaal Grand Cru the best; local winners like The Rattlesnake and Nasonville Dairy’s flavored curds captured top spots in multiple categories. The contest showcased creativity + local success.  WQOW
  • Two film festivals will take over Micon Downtown Cinema from March 5 to 8 with local world premieres in MidWest WeirdFest & A Night of Horror. Also, The Bride!, Pixar's Hoppers, and the Senior Series screening of Sleepless in Seattle on March 12 give viewers fresh film options.  WEAU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Eau Claire City Council will vote Tuesday on an agreement with youth baseball and softball groups to fundraise for lighting at Jeffers Park. If approved, the groups will launch a capital campaign to install underground electrical work and new lights, extending play time & hosting regional tournaments.  WQOW
  • Local lawmakers met to propose expanding BadgerCare so more residents, including small business owners, can buy coverage outside strict Medicaid limits — a change they say could offer affordable, continuous health insurance. The bill has not yet reached the Assembly floor.  WEAU

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Friday, Mar. 6, Eau Claire Memorial traveled to SPASH and Eau Claire North battled Kaukauna in division one boys basketball regional semifinals, while Eau Claire Co-op gymnastics competed in the team portion of the state meet.  WEAU
  • The WIAA boys basketball playoffs continued yesterday as Fall Creek hosted Mondovi in division four while Regis took on Bangor, Osseo-Fairchild faced Onalaska Luther, Colfax played Prairie Farm/Clayton, and McDonell squared off with Marathon.  WEAU
