COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Chippewa Valley Veterans Tribute Foundation announced a $160,000 donation from Altoona’s VFW Post 10405 to launch a matching campaign and build a Vietnam Memorial along the Tribute Trail + the kickoff event will take place Mar. 29 at Cowboy Jacks from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.  WQOW
  • Residents opposed Ridge Breeze Dairy’s permit to grow from 1,700 to 6,500 cows. They gathered at the state Department of Administration building on Clairemont Avenue Tuesday — voicing environmental concerns and planning to testify against the expansion.  WEAU

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Eau Claire jumped from about $2.50 on Monday to over $3 Tuesday morning, with Kwik Trip stations charging $3.09. The increase is driven by the summer blend shift and international conflict, and by today crude oil climbed nearly $6, nearing $78 per barrel.  WQOW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Tuesday, about 2,000 students and community members attended Chi-Hi’s 9th biannual STEAM night where local businesses showed career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, art, and math — sparking career curiosity.  WEAU
  • On March 2, anonymous longtime supporters committed a legacy gift expected to exceed $10 million to Chippewa Valley Technical College — the donation will help the school enhance its programs for students.  The Chippewa Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State officials expect additional evidence from Cave Enterprises on alleged child labor and wage violations after a Minnesota suit was dismissed. A state report cited 1,656 breaches affecting nearly 1,400 young workers + more than $237K in unpaid wages at several locations, and officials will review next steps soon.  WEAU

HEALTH NEWS

  • Trinity Equestrian Center in Eau Claire uses horses to help families facing dementia connect and ease emotional stress. Volunteers run the program and hope to add safe riding activities as participants work together to share meaningful experiences.  WEAU
  • The state has revoked the license for Care Partners West, and the assisted living facility in Eau Claire will close after attempts to resolve seven violations + all 51 residents will be moved under a state-approved relocation plan while care continues until transition is complete.  WEAU

  • City officials say the Haymarket Landing units in downtown have been under contract nearly a decade after opening, and a sale is expected to be finalized this month — potentially welcoming the first tenants after years of vacancy.  WQOW

SPORTS NEWS

  • Team Hebert won gold at the 2026 World Junior Curling Championships in Denmark after beating Italy 8-6, continuing their winning streak from events at the Eau Claire Curling Club. The team, representing the United States, secured the championship in the final end.  WEAU
