COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Warner Dog Park reopened Thursday after an investigation found no toxic or contagious diseases were linked to a dog's earlier death — pet owners are encouraged to return to the park. The Chippewa Herald
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Tessa Larson, a K-5 math interventionist at Lakeshore Elementary for nearly 20 years, has been honored with the Golden Apple award today. Larson and the school will each receive $500 from WEAU and the Eau Claire Public Schools Foundation (a generous sponsorship). WEAU
- ➤ Voters in Cornell will decide in April whether to approve $15 million to replace the aging high school amid costly repairs and declining enrollment. A failed referendum will shift grades 9-12 to another district, and community meetings run March 9 to discuss the proposal. WQOW
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Western Wisconsin Health and Baldwin Area EMS run the Community Paramedic Program, providing home visits + pain management, diabetes education, and wound care + to help avoid hospital trips; the program, which has made 1,600 visits since 2016, faces funding issues as the legislature considers grant support.
