EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Abigail Moszer, a first grade teacher at Sherman Elementary, is honored with a Golden Apple award for her dedication to young learners in her fourth year of teaching. The school & Moszer will each receive $500 from Market & Johnson & the Eau Claire Public Schools Foundation. WEAU
- ➤ Altoona School District hosted an information meeting on Feb. 18 at Altoona High School to discuss a referendum for over $15.6-million funding (to repair and update facilities). If approved in the April 7 election, property taxes will increase by $72 per $100,000 of home value. WEAU
- ➤ Gov. Evers toured Eau Claire North High School on Wednesday with Jeff Pertl — Secretary of the Department of Children and Families — and visited an art studio, science class and library. He noted progress in state funding for special education while opposing a one-time rebate check plan. WQOW
- ➤ Chippewa Valley Technical College received a five-year accreditation from the Society of Simulation in Healthcare & its simulation-based training program in Eau Claire is now recognized as a leader in healthcare education. - ➤ Downtown business owners and representatives from DECI met with Sen. Tammy Baldwin in Eau Claire to discuss ongoing challenges for local businesses. The meeting aimed to identify economic concerns and pave the way for future support. Leader-Telegram
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ The 2025 Altoona Development Report shows Altoona’s population grew 18% and Eau Claire increased 6% since 2020, with officials urging smart mixed housing development to ease rising costs; Altoona permitted 141 units in 2025 and Eau Claire built 481 units last year — evidence of strong regional growth.
