  • Eau Claire firefighters will trade helmets for bouquets this Valentine’s Day weekend, delivering flowers door-to-door with Eau Claire Floral to boost the Coats for Kids charity. Ten volunteers will help double the usual delivery count & support local families in need.  WEAU
  • Local chocolatier Sweet Driver Cafe & Chocolates is hosting a Valentine's pop-up event at Forage downtown on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.—offering wine tastings, local food options, and a chance to try its new 'Dubai Bar.'  WQOW
  • A Cadott teen reunited with the UWEC coach who saved his life at the Sonnentag Center as local baseball players watched a warm handshake & hug. The meeting showed how care and teamwork can change lives.  Leader-Telegram

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Menomonie Theater Guild will present The Play That Goes Wrong in six shows from Feb. 20 to 22 and Feb. 27 to Mar. 1 at the historic Mabel Tainter Theater; evening shows start at 7:30 p.m. and matinees at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available online or by calling 715-231-7529.  WEAU

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Mary Kae Walters has been honored today with the Golden Apple award at Robbins Elementary after 35 years of service in the school district—she and her school receive a $500 grant from Northwestern Bank and the Eau Claire Public Schools Foundation.  WEAU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Advocates in Eau Claire and across Wisconsin pushed for increased funding for the 211 program on Wednesday, asking lawmakers to raise support to $1M. United Way representatives said more funding would support stability for people seeking housing + other services statewide.  WQOW
  • Downtown Eau Claire Incorporated seeks Main Street designation to secure $15,000 in resources for revitalizing the downtown area. The plan was presented Tuesday at City Council + DECI expects to complete the process by June.  WEAU
