- ➤ Trinity Equestrian Center is seeking volunteers to support its expanding Adaptive Riding and Reminiscing on the Ranch programs, which now offer more sessions and extended months for dementia education — applications are accepted online and orientation takes about six weeks. WQOW
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Local romance author Ashley Miles discussed her book Messy Beautiful on Hello Wisconsin and shared insights about love and second chances. Fans met her at the Altoona Public Library at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, where books were available for purchase. WEAU
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Pablo Center in Eau Claire won a $900,000 grant for its STEAM youth education program after a government funding package passed Tuesday. Executive director Monica Frederick said the money will help expand its educational and community programs, including open doors + VetTix initiatives. WEAU
- ➤ UW-Eau Claire accounting students will offer free income tax help through VITA for those earning $67,000 or less on Fridays: March 6 + March 13 + March 20 + March 27 + April 3 at the Davies Center dining area. Registration and required documents are needed. WEAU
- ➤ Chippewa Valley Montessori Charter School honored educator Jenny Kron with a Golden Apple award for 17 years of teaching in the Eau Claire Area School District. The school and Kron each received $500 from Security Financial Bank and the Eau Claire Public Schools Foundation. WEAU
- ➤ Flynn Elementary hosted its annual Principal in Training event this week, where third grader Maddie served as honorary principal on Thursday morning to help raise funds for free yearbooks and lead classroom visits (the only district school to hold this fundraiser). WQOW
- ➤ At Altoona Middle School, 7th and 8th grade students participated in JA for a Day on Thursday, visiting booths from around 20 local businesses. They explored various career paths and learned essential job skills (resume writing and interview techniques) to help plan their futures. WEAU

- ➤ On Thursday, Feb. 5, Cloverbelt Conference games brought intense matchups as Regis squared off with McDonell while Colfax battled Mondovi in girls basketball, and boys contests featured Elk Mound versus Stanley-Boyd along with hockey games where Eau Claire North hosted Chippewa Falls and ECA Stars faced Medford.
