- ➤ The Eau Claire community recognized three local snow shoveling champions in a Jan. 16 city manager update, honoring neighbors like 85-year-old Barbara, who clears sidewalks, and Evelyn, who helps maintain public spaces. WEAU
- ➤ A new express bus route will begin Monday, Jan. 26, between Sojourner House and the Day Resource Center, cutting travel time from 15 to 5 minutes. The trial service runs Monday to Friday with pickups at 7:30 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. (free monthly passes available for some riders). WEAU
- ➤ The L.E. Phillips Memorial Senior Center stays busy as local seniors gather for warmth and connection despite the cold outside. The center continues to be a welcoming spot for community interaction in Eau Claire. WEAU
- ➤ On Friday, the Eau Claire Children's Museum hosted a 'Pay What You Can Day' with pop-up exhibits and interactive activities to help families escape the cold while the L.E. Phillips Senior Center kept fitness classes and pickle ball open to support local seniors (despite subzero weather). WQOW

- ➤ Extreme cold is set to impact travel and power services this weekend. Eau Claire County emergency manager Tyler Esh said shelters at Sojourner House & Haven House will extend hours and bus fares will be waived today as residents are urged to prepare by packing emergency kits. WQOW

- ➤ Fitness Freedom 24/7 gym is hosting a free Health and Fitness Day today at its Lake Hallie location, with doors opening at 8:00 a.m. and classes including yoga, Zumba and mobility sessions running until 2:00 p.m. Local businesses will offer refreshments. WEAU
