- ➤ Haven House needs donations of coffee grounds, winter gloves and hand warmers and volunteers to support its new shelter at One Better Way during the extreme cold, with items accepted at the Day Resource Center + Hope Gospel Mission's main office. WQOW
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Terry Shaurette, a DNR wildlife biologist, urges residents to let wild animals live on their own in the cold because extra food and shelter may spread disease + upset their normal diets. If you see an injured animal, call the DNR or a licensed rehabilitator before offering help. WQOW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Eau Claire is set to renovate the baseball-field at Carson Park this summer and officials say they feel good about the progress. The planned upgrades will enhance park facilities and community recreation. Leader-Telegram

- ➤ Eau Claire North and Eau Claire Memorial met in a boys basketball crosstown rivalry on Tuesday, Jan. 20, while Regis hosted Thorp and Elk Mound battled Fall Creek in other prep games. Eau Claire Memorial traveled to Marshfield for girls basketball and UW-Eau Claire men’s prepared for a match against UW-Oshkosh. WEAU
- ➤ Local figure skaters, including Kelsey Schnitz, are training at Hobbs Municipal Ice Center as they prepare for the Winter Olympics opening on Feb. 6. The Eau Claire Figure Skating Club organizes annual ice shows and competitions to help athletes gain experience. WEAU
