  • Eau Claire is hosting a contest for the best snow shoveler, inviting residents to nominate someone who keeps sidewalks, hydrants + drains clear by salting, sanding, or shoveling. The winner will be announced in an upcoming newsletter.  WQOW
  • The Western Wisconsin RV Liquidation and Super Show begins today at the Menards Chippewa Valley Expo Center in Eau Claire and runs through Sunday. The event features 60 RVs—including new 2026 models and discounted 2025 units—plus camping gear, prizes, and a kids area with free entry.  WQOW
  • City crews from the Recreation Division are spraying water on outdoor rinks to build fresh ice—ensuring smooth skating surfaces as temperatures remain cold. The rinks will reopen at 4 p.m. tomorrow.  WQOW
  • A Chippewa Valley resident turned 100 on Tuesday at Oak Gardens Place in Altoona. Mary Butrum said her secret was to travel lots and learn as much as she could – a message that inspires many in the community.  WEAU

  • The eight-county outdoor recreation plan is nearly complete and will be submitted to USDA by month's end & is set to receive feedback within 90 days. The project aims to strengthen the region's identity and boost local economic growth.  WQOW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The League of Women Voters-Greater Chippewa Valley chapter and the Wisconsin Public Education Network are hosting a three-part series to educate residents on public school funding + steps to sustain quality education in the Chippewa Valley.  The Chippewa Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Yesterday, 15 to 20 Eau Claire seniors gathered outside the local Social Security office to call for better staffing and funding after national job cuts were announced in 2025. They stressed the need to cut delays as more Baby Boomers retire.  WQOW

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Eau Claire City-County Health Department installed two new sharps disposal boxes to help safely dispose of needles, lancets and syringes. The boxes are part of an ongoing effort to reduce hazardous waste countywide.  Leader-Telegram
